On the road again

Slowly but surely I’m getting back up to speed for training.  At this point, I feel confident that I can still do all three Spring races.  I might not be able to run them at the pace I was hoping for but at this point I will be happy just to be able to cross the mats.

One thing that has come out of the time away from running the past month has been cross-training.  This past week as I’ve put in more miles I’ve been able to keep up the additional training.

Monday, I swam at lunch and then ran 5 miles after work.

Tuesday was spin class at lunch and 5 miles in the afternoon.

Wednesday was a rest day.

Thursday it was back to spin class and then a return to speed work, 7 miles with 8 x 100m strides. I sure didn’t push it but it was good to stretch out my legs.

Friday, it was back to the pool and then 5 miles after work.

Saturday morning it was raining so I waited until late morning to run 12 miles.  It was windy with a light rain but it was sure good to get to run.

Each day my leg feels stronger but it still stiffens up after running.  I am spending a good 20 minutes stretching before the run and another 20 minutes icing it down after.

David, I’ve been so disconnected, I’ve missed this entire saga, which I just read tonight!! Oh my!!!! Glad you seem to be on the other side of it.

Any clue when the calf pull happened?? Did the camber in Memphis contribute??

Sure hope the good progress continues!!
