Road to Memphis
Eighteen weeks from today is the St. Jude Memphis marathon, 125 days. What better way to start training than with a rest/cross training day.
It was just getting light when I left the house at 5:20 this morning. Rode to Franklin and back for an easy 18 miles.
Congrats to Lana and Michele for placing 1st and 2nd at the Staggewing Duathlon yesterday.
Ran 15 miles Saturday morning. I left the house about with hopes of beating the heat. Is was a slow run but with the temperature at 82 degress and the humidity at 74 percent, the heat indext was 87 F. I was just glad to be done.
In looking at my times for last week, I can see the impact of running in 90 plus degrees and high humidty.

18 weeks, eh??!! That’s cool! Lots to do between now and then. Your 39 miles in the heat is leaving you in good shape. Don’t worry about pace in this heat…this is, for you southerners, the equivilent of our winter. Just get in the miles….better weather will come!

Great job in the heat/humidity. It was just plain miserable this weekend.

wow, only 18 weeks??? just remember how much easier the runs will be when I cools off. Now you just gotta hope they don’t have the same weather in Memphis as they did last year!!!

The heat is miserable!! 18 weeks – just think how much time that gives Mother Earth to cool things down!

I think we’re down to something like twelve weeks now. Time flies.
Do I want to know what the weather was like in Memphis last year?
