Great Saturday

Last night I decided to not do the 12-mile fallback run scheduled for this morning but rather do the free 4-mile fun run at Fleet Feet of Nashville (in Brentwood) and then suck it up and do the 18 mile training run with the Nashville Striders on Sunday. I’ll just move my fall back run to next Saturday.

Got to stay in bed until 6 am. That was a treat in and of itself. Piddled around the house some and hustled up to Brentwood for the run. There was a good crowd. My buddy Steve from christianrunner.com was there. So we ran together. I had a great time while we talked the whole way. Also met Rachel and Brent. It is always cool to met folks after you have read their blog.

After the race, I got to talk with Jill at Fleet Feet about my foot. She said that it had to do with the way ASICS is designing their shoes. She said that they have seen a number of folks with the same problem. The solution is a shoe insert. So now I am the proud owner of a pair of Super Feet insoles. Jill said that I should “ease” into using them and gradually increase the distance, so I guess that means that I should not wear them on the 18-miler tomorrow. But I am hopeful that the insoles will solve the problem.

The other cool thing about this morning was that free run included a free shirt which turned out to be a long sleeve ASICS technical shirt and then got Mizuno shirt for making a purchase.
